Winning isn't everything ... It's the ONLY THING!

11th Annual Unofficial Derby Kickball Championship

As people flock from all over America to the kickball capital of the U.S.A., Louisville, KY, the Unofficial Derby Kickball Championship has become the premier kickball tournament in the nation. The 11th year of the Unofficial Derby Kickball Championship brought many exciting changes. There was a new location, a double elimination tournament format and online registration and payment. Please check out the links in the sidebar for rules, regulations, specific details, and other fun stuff.

The 2008 quest for the Hankinsmak Cup was decided in an epic battle between the Bus Drivers and Balls Deep. Although Balls Deep fought with strength and determination it was not enough to stop the Bus Drivers who “took them to school” twice defeating them in the Championship series. The Bus Drivers is now this year’s protectors of the Hankinsmak Cup - Kentuckiana James would be proud. The Kickball Championship hosted 19 teams with more than 200 participants. The great weather along with the new double-elimination format led to another exciting and successful Kickball Championship, but like always some elements will forever be shrouded in controversy. On the brink of defeat one team made wild accusations of steroid use against their opponent. The National Kickball Association has NOT made an official ruling on use of performance enhancing drugs in tournament play, so for now feel free to “Juice Up”.

In this year’s tournament we witnessed some impressive displays of team unity, like the team uniforms of the Bitches and Hos, Shepherdsville Bottom Feeders, Longballs, Dirt-Balls, Roll Models, MODA, Bashdaddy Destroyers and Swamp Donkeys. One team had a dancing KEG mascot, and to the disappointment of the Indian Hills Police Department the Roll Models lived out their team mantra of “unite and urinate” as they did just that into some bushes inconveniently located in the backyard of the police department, while wearing their bright red uniforms.

Hopefully by now your muscles, egos and livers are resuming some semblance of normalcy. However, before your body and mind fall back into a dormant cycle we would love to hear about your Kickball experience! What did you like? What would you change? Please email us or use our contact us here. For those who were unable to make it this year we look forward to seeing you back next year.
